    Description

    Reed Scientific is working with a leading national environmental/hazardous materials company, they are looking to take on a few new Hazardous Waste Assessor to join their growing Hazardous Waste Division. This client-facing role requires technical expertise to ensure waste streams are managed compliantly and commercially. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hazardous waste and chemistry, using their knowledge to assess waste streams and ensure correct classification and disposal routes.

    Day-to-day of the role:

    • Carry out technical assessments of waste enquiries, characterising and accurately classifying waste.
    • Liaise with clients to obtain sufficient information for quotations, documentation, packing instructions, and labels.
    • Manage sales enquiries to satisfy pre-acceptance requirements.
    • Identify cost-effective treatment and processing routes for hazardous waste streams.
    • Provide technical advice and assistance to customers, drivers, transport, and technical administration teams.
    • Maintain communication to ensure customer expectations are met with up-to-date and accurate information.
    • Develop relationships with existing customers and other sales teams to grow the business and develop total waste management services.
    • Support the company at waste industry trade fairs and ensure compliance with all company policies, including health and safety.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Minimum Bsc Chemistry or Environmental Science (preferred) or HNC also considered.
    • Experience as a Technical Assessor or Site Chemist in the hazardous waste industry.
    • Strong understanding of analytical data and legislation.
    • Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner.
    • High standard of customer service and ability to work to tight deadlines.
    • Numerate and confident with written communication.
    • Approachable, friendly, and flexible to accommodate ad-hoc requirements.
