Specialist Pharmacist - Ipswich, United Kingdom - East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust

    Default job background
    Fixed-Term
    Description

    Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Specialist Pharmacist, Oncology & Haematology to gain knowledge and experience in an ever developing speciality where you can make a positive contribution to patient care. This post is to cover maternity leave until 31st March 2025.

You will be based at Ipswich Hospital within the Oncology Pharmacy situated in the Woolverstone Wing. This satellite pharmacy facility provides both clinical services and preparation of systemic anticancer therapy to inpatients and day cases as well as supporting outpatient clinics. It is a busy unit supplying anti-cancer therapy to over 70 patients a day and the ward supports more complex treatments including bone marrow transplantation.

Utilising your technical and clinical skills as you develop, you will also gain experience in a specific tumour site to enable you to learn to work with the wider multi-disciplinary team. To aid your development you will be supported by the Lead Pharmacist and Senior Specialist Pharmacists.

You will be supported to learn all aspects of the role using local and national courses to enable your development for this specific role and any future aspirations within this speciality or other senior roles.

We are looking for a pharmacist who has some experience of working within a hospital pharmacy. You should already have achieved, or in the process of completing, a relevant post-graduate diploma.

    Main duties of the job

Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.

You will be responsible for the validation of anti-cancer therapy using the electronic prescribing system and for final checking the products before release to the ward/day unit. In addition you will provide support to the clinical pharmacist undertaking activity on the ward and out-patient clinics.
