Pharmacy Assistant - Aseptic Services
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) provides excellent cancer care to patients in the North West (including North Wales and the Isle of Man).
Inpatient services, including 2 wards, bone marrow transplant service and the regional Teenage and Young Adult unit (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust) are located at our Liverpool site.
It is an exciting time for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, as we expand our capacity in the aseptic pharmacy suite at CCCL.
This has provided an exciting opportunity for a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant which is an important position within our large, diverse and friendly pharmacy team.
Working pattern will be 37.5 hours per week, 8am-6pm over 4 days per weekIn this role you will have a pass in GCSE English, Maths and a Science or equivalent. We will enrol you onto the NVQ II Pharmacy Services or equivalent to progress you further in the role.
In summary you will
Assemble and check all raw materials to be sent into designated clean rooms following standard operating procedures and trust guidelines.
Participate in volume checking of colleagues within the sterile chemotherapy unit.
Support ordering, receiving, rota and maintain all stocks within the department.
Compile documentation for quality control and quality assurance to adhere to licensing requirements of the department and within the trust

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.
Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies.
We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers.
Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before.
In this role you are responsible for the assembling and checking of raw materials for dispensing of chemotherapy, following standard operating procedures and local and national policies of the department and trust.
As an assistant you will support the procurement team with the ordering and receiving of stock and stock rotations and levels within the department.
You will ensure all work carried out complies with the standard laid down in the latest edition of the 'Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice' and 'Health and Safety Guidelines for hazardous toxic exposure' to provide a comprehensive and timely chemotherapy service for network patients.
