    Job summary

    The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will seepatients in clinic for a variety of treatments and procedures such as bloodtests, NHS health checks, diabetic foot checks etc. whilst working underspecific protocols and guidelines. TheHCA will also assist in theatres in a variety of procedures such asvasectomies, carpal tunnel etc. The HCA willwork within their clinical boundaries to be able to demonstrate safe, competentclinical decision-making and deliver expert care, maintaining patientconfidentiality at all times.

    Main duties of the job

    We are looking for someone who is eitheralready trained as a Healthcare Assistant or someone who is at the start oftheir career and looking to become trained as a Healthcare Assistant. The ideal candidate will have experienceworking as part of a team and also independently and will have the ability toliaise with staff at all levels. Applicantsmust have a friendly disposition, flexible approach and be adaptable tochange. We work in a fast-pacedenvironment, therefore the candidate must be a fast learner and confident andcompetent using IT softwares.

    About us

    We are looking for part time applicants,desired hours can be discussed at interview.We offer 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata), a competitive salary, freeonsite parking, modern working facilities and the chance to join or continue onin the NHS Pension Scheme. Applicantswill have to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide evidence of certainimmunisations/immunity.     Job responsibilities

    TheHealthcare Assistant (HCA) will see patients in clinic for a variety oftreatments and procedures such as blood tests, NHS health checks, diabetic footchecks etc. whilst working under specific protocols and guidelines. The HCA will also assist in theatres in avariety of procedures such as vasectomies, carpal tunnel etc.

    TheHCA will work within their clinical boundaries to be able to demonstrate safe,competent clinical decision-making and deliver expert care, maintaining patientconfidentiality at all times.

    Therole will involve independent and autonomous working as well as workingcohesively as part of both the individual teams and the wider Practice team.

    The HCA will be supportedby their fellow nursing team (Nurses, Nurse Associates, HCAs &Phlebotomists).

  • Toundertake blood tests, blood pressure checks, and height, weight and BMIchecks.
  • Toassist in minor surgery procedures including but not limited to vasectomies,carpal tunnel, dermatology procedures, coils etc.
  • Toundertake NHS and new patient health checks.
  • Toundertake diabetic foot checks.
  • Toassist with urinalysis and sample checks.
  • To ensure patientconfidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times.

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care Qualification (or equivalent)
  • Certification/Qualification and competency document in Phlebotomy

    • Knowledge

  • 3 years+ experience working as a trained Healthcare Assistant
  • Experience with assisting in Theatres / Minor Surgery
