- Apply & continue to develop a breadth of engineering skills, in the discipline of Naval Architecture and where applicable, other related disciplines.
- Define & conduct engineering analyses, technical studies and research & development projects, making use of your knowledge and experience, to deliver high quality solutions to our customers and clients.
- Deliver technical oversight & governance across a wide range of maritime engineering projects, ensuring compliance with defined standards, codes & business practices.
- Provide mentoring support, guidance & leadership and enable opportunities for the Naval Architecture capability to grow & develop skills, knowledge & experience to further enhance our provision of technical services.
- Investigating and solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed designs.
- Develop and maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
- Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of engineering, design, and production information.
- Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
- Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
- Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (RINA, IMarEST, IMechE). Recognised as a Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or an ability to achieve within 6 months).
- A readiness to grow & develop your technical & behavioural competence to operate at the cutting edge of your discipline.

- An understanding of the role of a Naval Architect throughout all stages of the design lifecycle.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of applying classification society rules, regulations, and standards in the design, construction and in-service lifecycle phases.
- The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience (12 years for non-degree qualified) working in either the commercial or naval maritime domain.
- Experience in one or more of the following key technical knowledge areas:
- Hydrostatic, seakeeping & stability analysis.
- Propulsion, resistance, and powering requirements.
- Hydrodynamic & manoeuvring analysis.
- Marine structure design & analysis.
- Ship design; including hull form, superstructure, arrangement & outfitting.
- Experience of using Naval Architecture design & analysis software packages (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MaxSurf, NAPA, Aveva, Paramarine, Orcaflex, Ansys Structural/Fluent, MatLab, MS Excel).
- Experience of whole ship design including assessment of performance, design integration, construction, through-life maintenance, and disposal.
- Experience of leading multi-discipline teams with an ability to communicate effectively.
- Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading and/or supporting multiple engineering projects & customers.
