Job Title:
Residential Support Worker - Children's Home


Location:
Mansfield,


Salary:
£26K - £29K (pro-rata for part-time)


Shifts:
Over Mon-Sun, including BH, 40 hours per week excluding sleeps


Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to achieve or hold the NVQ Level 4 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an equivalent.


Experience:
Childcare setting (1 year minimum), Working within Child Protection procedures, Residential childcare experience.


UK Driving Licence:
Required

The Home:

This is a new home, accommodating 3 YPs aged 7 to 17 on admission, specifically designed as an EBD Home.


About the Provider
At the provider, commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children is paramount. The primary aim is to create a warm, nurturing environment that supports safety, growth, and development. Caregiving is influenced by the PACE model underpinned by Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, embracing an attachment and trauma-informed approach.

Staff members are trained accordingly, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of children's behaviors and effective engagement from assessment to intervention.

The commissioned therapeutic partnership with Enabling Hope further supports the development of children and staff teams through direct works and consultations.


Accountability:
Residential Childcare Workers are directly accountable to the Deputy and Registered Manager.


Principal duties and responsibilities:


Care for Children:

Improve the lives of children and young people in care.

Model relationship-based caregiving in all interactions.

Establish caring, secure relationships with children.

Implement admission protocols to ensure children feel welcomed and informed.

Work closely with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings.

Fulfil tasks outlined in care plans within agreed timescales.

Ensure timely completion of records, assessments, and reports.

Engage children in the role of a key worker.

Undertake direct work with young people and act as a role model.

Meet health, education, and training needs of children.

Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities.

Model and promote respect for the caregiving environment.

Ensure children have access to advocacy and children's rights services.

Attend meetings to support children and advocate for them.

Ensure the physical security of the home.


Leadership:

Implement the provider's policies, procedures, and practice regarding safeguarding and child protection.

Deliver the provider's approach to childcare.

Engage in probation, induction, supervision, staff meetings, learning and development, and appraisal.

Model professional conduct in all aspects of the role.

Work in partnership with professionals in line with children's needs and interests.


Health & Safety:

Implement Health & Safety policies.

Undertake risk assessments as appropriate.

Record and report all incidents/accidents according to procedures.

Undertake fire drills and tests according to procedure and record the necessary data.


Other duties:
Undertake other duties directed by the Deputy or Registered Manager commensurate with the post.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing and able to achieve or hold the NVQ Level 4 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an equivalent.

  • Graduate in social work, social care, health, nursing, teaching.
    Work Experience
  • Childcare setting (1 year minimum), Working within Child Protection procedures, Residential childcare experience.
    Specialist Knowledge
  • Safeguarding children procedures, Understand the impact of trauma on child development, Direct work skills, Therapeutic parenting, Understand the complexity of group living.
    Skills
