Contract Type - Fixed Term - 1 Year
**Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week

The College is made up of seven schools (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy, GeoSciences, Informatics, Mathematics and Engineering), and two main further business units (The Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre [EPCC] and the Bayes Centre).


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Degree or equivalent with a relevant professional financial/accounting qualification (e.g. ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA or CIPFA)
  • A proven record of accomplishment in managing relevant financial and administrative tasks, preferably some in an HE environment.
  • Experience of leading and managing significant projects and budgets.
  • Experience of providing analysis and strategic advice to senior managers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proven ability to explain complex finance concepts and the implication of financial decisions to nonspecialists, excellent analytical skills and admirable IT skills (in particular, design and use of complex spreadsheets).
  • Superb interpersonal, people management and time management skills, with proven ability to influence others to achieve aims and evidence of successfully developing own team.

About the Team


The Finance Department is responsible for the effective financial management, stewardship and long-term financial health of the University, which has a turnover in excess of £1.3bn per year.

It exercises control over the University's finances, provides expert financial guidance particularly for key decision making, and provides an effective services and information for the financial conduct of the University's business.
