- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, geography or equivalent.
- Member or working towards chartered membership of a professional institution such as CIWEM, ICE, APM, etc.

- in developing business cases for flood risk management schemes with the aim to secure Flood Defence Grant in Aid (FDFiA) funding.
- of hydraulic modelling (Flood Modeller TUFLOW) or drainage modelling software (Microdrainage or Causeway Flow) and technically competent in fundamental hydraulic design principles.
- or an understanding of project management or principles to achieve project delivery.
