Description

This role is to lead the Priority Events Portfolio Management Office which is responsible for developing and delivering the framework within which projects are created, managed and completed as well as providing oversight of the departments event delivery.


The post holder would lead a small multi-disciplinary team that manages the day-to-day planning, governance, assurance and reporting of the Priority Events Team (PET) as well as a small number of high-profile events to ensure all events are completed on time and within budget.


Head of PMO responsibilities include planning project management activities, analysing financial and project progress information to keep projects on track, acting as specific events secretariat and collaborating with different parts of the departments to ensure all leaders understand where a project is in the development process.


Job description

  • Manage the recruitment and development of this new team into a high performing PMO function
  • Continuously evaluate and drive the event teams and projects to ensure they are meeting expected standards, adhere to budgets, and meet deadlines
  • Document priority event project's creation, development, and execution as well as the project's scope, budget, and justification
  • Oversee specified events governance, including presenting project progress (including financial) reports to Head of Events, Event Project Directors and project boards. Adding value through analysing results and making improvement suggestions
  • Draft new and improving existing project management office policies and processes

Hybrid working
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.


Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.


Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.

If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of successfully running a PMO function responsible for multiple highprofile projects
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with an analytical mindset
  • Knowledge of the creation of project frameworks, user guides, processes and systems
  • Proven communication and influencing skills at all levels

Desirable Criteria
Relevant training and/or certifications in Project Management
