Description

Neville House is a delightful residential care home, set in the suburb of Chapel Allerton, Leeds, 2 minutes walk from the busy Harrogate Road, and has excellent transport links.


Role:
Care Assistant DAYS & NIGHTS (8am - 3pm, 2.45pm - 9.45pm, 9.30pm - 8am shift patterns)


Rota covers Monday to Sunday, 28 hours per week

Bank Contract is also available


As a Care Assistant at Neville House, you must be a passionate and caring person who is able to deliver high quality person-centered care, promote dignity and independence for all our residents.

You must have a sympathetic understanding of the needs of elderly people and their families.


As a Care Assistant, you will:

  • Support other carers, senior staff, deputy manager and manager in all aspects of the efficient running of the home
  • Lead by positive example and share with others in meeting the personal emotional and psychological needs of the residents in a way which respects the dignity of the individual and also promotes independence, choice and autonomy
  • Provide care in an empowering manner in the same way the resident would usually do it for themselves or that would reasonably be given by members of the residents own family and to only assist when necessary
  • Not be expected to perform tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse
**Principle Responsibilities:
- *
  • To ensure that you and your colleagues contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home, service provision and the creation of the right atmosphere.
  • Support residents with all aspects of their everchanging needs, including personal care and psychological and emotional support.
  • Contribute towards providing written reports in the residents social and health care plans, ensuring handwriting is neat and tidy and reports are factual and informative. Ensure incident and accident reports are written up without delay and the appropriate person is informed.
  • To support and assist residents with their daily routines, dressing and washing etc.
  • Going to bed or getting up is a personal choice for each resident and times will differ as per resident.
  • To support and assist residents with any mobility issues and any other physical impairment as per their individual care plan and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that residents rooms and common spaces are left properly clean, tidy and maintained. Any health and safety issues including slips trips and falls or close calls have been reported immediately.
  • Participate/ facilitate in staff meetings and in staff training and development activities
  • Support home manager in his or her duties as the responsible officer for the home under the national minimum standards act 2000, health and safety at work act 1974 and the fire regulations etc
  • Participate in the maintenance of other records as may be required by CQC, LCC or the registered provider of the home.
  • Participate in supervisions and appraisals
  • Participate in induction and any training, mandatory or otherwise that may be required
  • To care and support sensitively those residents who may be temporary sick and needing for example; minor dressings bed nursing, help with eating and drinking.
  • To care and support those residents who may be dying, to support relatives and other colleagues in there loss as appropriate
  • To make and change beds where required, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes
  • To ensure rooms are left neat and tidy after food service
  • To set tables in the dining room and assist those who require support with drinks or meals
- to prepare light meals, snacks and drinks regularly to the residents. To ensure dining room is left neat and tidy after each food service.

  • To answer call bells in a timely manner and emergency call bells immediately.
  • To carry out regular visual checks on residents as determined by resident
- family-senior carer - deputy manager or manager ensuring dignity, privacy and respect are adhered to at all times

  • To carry out regular checks of the building at regular intervals, ensuring fire doors are not blocked or propped open with special reference to fire safety and building security.
