Our client is a well-respected construction company, founded nearly 100 years ago and continue to grow in size.
THE ROLE
Our client is looking for a Building Operative to join their team.
Building Operative key responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of administration tasks.
- Communicate with suppliers.
- Conduct daily site checks and document any necessary actions.
- Prepare and process site paperwork for Engineers/Operatives to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works.
- Ensure that all contractors adhere to appropriate safety, health, and environmental (SHE) processes and client HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
- Take the lead in implementing reactive events such as Fire Alarm activation.
- Uphold compliance with health and safety regulations and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) requirements for the premises.
- Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Report all incidents, occupational illnesses, and emergencies accurately in relevant books and documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, cleaning, managing waste, restocking tea stations and toilet facilities, monitoring and replenishing stationery levels, and performing winter gritting.
- Provide support to local and business zero carbon programs, actively working towards achieving zero carbon goals in a strategic and efficient manner.
- Ensure that health and safety standards are met across the contract.
THE PERSON
Building Operative key experience, qualifications and skills:
- Previous experience with basic building maintenance, handyman, security or janitors duties.
- Previous experience within a large building site area is desirable.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Clear understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH requirement within a building environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
