Job description

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term For 9 Months To Cover Parental Leave

Join us to provide a crucial transport service to children, young people, and vulnerable adults across the city.


Passenger and Transport service have a fleet of about 80 buses to transport children and vulnerable adults between home & school, to and from day centres & other establishments.

Some of the passengers have special needs and learning difficulties so their personal wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do - making their daily journey a comfortable one in a safe & appropriate manner.

Working with other Supervisors, you'll be responsible for managing a large and diverse team of Drivers and Passenger Assistants. Being flexible in your approach, you'll show a sensitivity towards the needs of vulnerable people.

Having a caring attitude, you'll effectively communicate with people who access our services, family members, school staff and colleagues to ensure not only the safety of the passengers but of the staff too.

You'll achieve and maintain a high standard of service provision to Social Care & Health and Education service users.

This is a full-time, fixed term post working 37 hrs a week on a shift pattern between 06:30 -15:00, , and 09:00 - 17:30.

You'll be based at Sulgrave Road.


What you'll be doing
Day to day, you'll manage and supervise the activities of your dedicated team of drivers and passenger assistants.

You'll ensure the buses are ready on time to transport children, young people and vulnerable adults, and the routes are mapped out.

You'll carry out recruitment and conduct inductions of new starters, deal with performance issues, motivate the team, and manage absence.

You'll open and close the building and ensure that the vehicles are maintained to the required standard. You'll Investigate and report on accidents and complaints and effectively resolve any issues that arise. On occasion you may be required to travel on the buses to support the drivers and/or passenger assistants.


What you'll need


You'll have experience of supervising large number of employees throughout the working day, providing expert advice and guidance when issues arise.

Using your own initiative, you'll solve problems and deal effectively with customer requirements. Highly organised, you'll be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines. Using proficient IT skills, you'll be able to maintain IT systems including bespoke databases.

You'll have strong communication skills, to liaise with members of the public, external organisations and command the confidence of your team.

The ability to work to a high standard and utilise a fleet of vehicles to its optimum level, you'll achieve and maintain a high standard of service provision.
