- Work with internal stakeholders to understand the project requirements and propose engineering solutions that meet these
- Develop the solution into a fully detailed 3D CAD model
- Demonstrate design solution performance using own calculations and FEA
- Understand and design for manufacturability, considering the impact of design choices on cost and performance
- Create a complete set of engineering drawings to BS8888 and ensure tolerancing, including GPS ISO, is appropriately specified
- Fully comply with NPL and UK legal requirements and ensure project technical documentation is completed
- Manage and record appropriate design review and requirements process
- Monitor and manage project change process
- Support and mentor members of the design team

In this hybrid role you will spend approx. 2 – 3 days a week on site in Teddington, and 2 – 3 days working remotely. As our Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will focus on specifying, designing, and drawing a variety of projects ranging from simple, single parts all the way though to complex mechanical machinery, operating within the many varied physics disciplines undertaken at the laboratory. You will work with a team of professionals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, celebrating the unique contributions that everyone brings to the team.
