- Partnering with the business to provide technical advice to tax, finance, and operations on everyday operational matters and specific business initiatives e.g. market expansion and supply chain changes.
- Drive global mapping exercise to identify indirect tax risks and opportunities.
- Drive global review of AP, AR and VAT return processes with a view to standardising and automating wherever possible.
- Provide oversight of the global compliance process
- Own the tax configuration and setup of the business ERP and wider systems
- Supporting the wider business on Customs Duty compliance and processes working closely with the customs and trade compliance Manager EMEA and global trade compliance manager
- Identifying and implement continuous improvement in process and controls
- Managing external advisers in relation to indirect tax matters
- Implementing required changes due to changing indirect tax legislation across multiple jurisdictions
- Business integration setup for VAT purposes for acquisitions
- Provide training to other areas of the business
- Ad hoc projects aligned to external changes e.g. Covid-19 VAT impacts, Brexit, MTD etc.
- Assist with research and review of the indirect tax requirements for any new jurisdictions
- Qualified in a professional Accountancy Qualification - ACA / ATT or CTA qualified or qualified by experience in the relevant profession or HMRC
- Strong UK/EU VAT technical knowledge and an ability to independently to problem solve commercially focused situations.
- Significant experience in VAT accounting
- Ability to drive change and work with others to improve processes and controls
- Ability to prioritise workload and keep to deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
