Senior Pharmacist - York, United Kingdom - York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

    Default job background
    Permanent
    Description

    Job summary

We are offering an opportunity for a keen pharmacist at Band 6/7 level who may not want to specialise just yet but is looking to further their generalist clinical knowledge interest - we think we have the right job for you in our Medicines Information Service We can support the right person through the National Medicines Information Training Course (NMITC) and support you to work as part of a friendly team consisting of experienced pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Upon completion of the NMITC course and meeting a local competency framework, you can then progress to an 8A where you will then be given the opportunity to lead where the service goes next

The service is based at York but provides a Trust wide medicines information resource to health care professionals working in the acute, community hospitals and to colleagues in primary care. This provides a great development opportunity for interface working across our healthcare system.

As well as a daily clinical commitment delivering our ward-based pharmacy services, this post has an established clinical link to the Ophthalmology directorate where there is scope to develop your specialist knowledge and support the wider MDT with their governance, policy and guidelines. If you have a passion for delivering patient-centred care then this is the job for you

Please contact us if you are interested in this job as a B7-8A progression or as a B8A as we can be flexible for the right candidate.

    Main duties of the job

We welcome interest from hospital pharmacists from all backgrounds and, as this is a progression post you could be working towards (or holding) a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy to Diploma level.

Previous experience of working in medicines information is not essential as formal training will be provided in this area so don't let this deter you. We can offer the right candidate a funded and supported opportunity to undertake Independent Prescribing if desired.

The combination of responsibilities within this role present an ideal opportunity to develop clinical, teaching and leadership skills - training and development in all these areas will be supported.

You must possess excellent communication skills, have a strong clinical interest and demonstrate competence in technology and improvement. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as is a commitment to education, training and innovation.

The post includes participation in working the weekend (currently 1 in 8), Bank Holiday (1 per year) and on call rotas. On call working frequency (from home) is only approximately 1 in 30 nights.
