Role and Responsibilities:


The Head of Risk will be responsible for developing and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks that may impact the organisation.

This role requires a thorough understanding of the business operations, regulatory requirements, and industry trends to identify and assess risks and design controls to minimise their impact.


  • Assessing the impact of particular identified risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize their effect on the organisation
  • Developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures to mitigate potential risks
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that risk management strategies are understood and implemented effectively
  • Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of risk management strategies and recommend changes as necessary
  • Developing yourself as a Subject Matter Expert and leader across the business for Risk expertise, becoming a trusted advisor to our Senior Leaders providing guidance, advice and support
  • Reporting directly into Executive Group, providing specialist expertise and insight on the Risk agenda
  • Chairing regular Risk Group meetings, creating and steering agendas with focused outcomes, clear communication strategies and information relay
  • Conducting regular risk assessments to identify emerging risks and develop appropriate responses
  • Developing and maintaining risk management plans and documentation to support compliance with regulations and standards
  • Owning our Risk registers, and coordinating with business teams for the regular upkeep and maintenance of their respective registers, capturing changes and collating mitigation actions
  • Provide training and support to staff on risk management principles and practices
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organisation's risk profile
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators and industry associations

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Ideally, you will have gained over 5 years' experience within a Governance, Risk & Compliance Leadership role, with people management experience and ability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of relative regulations, legislation and standard.
  • Experienced in driving change & efficiency, with an ability to work collaboratively with others, whilst remaining inclusive, supportive and understanding towards your colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal and general interpersonal communication skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to present ideas in businessfriendly and userfriendly language, particularly at a senior level to our Executive Group and Board.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with crossfunctional teams
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a fastpaced environment.
