Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights), in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieveshort to ultra-long read lengths.

Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere. We offer real-time nanopore-based DNA/RNA sequencing technology: accessible, easy to use and fully scalable for any requirement.

We are looking for an innovative Software Engineer to join our Instrument Core team. This role involves working on the continuous evolution and improvement of an industry-leading DNA sequencing technology.

Working in a scrum team within the instrument software group, you will deliver technical leadership and help improve development processes.

An advocate for agile, you will lead by example in developing software that is well designed and tested.


Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering features effectively as part of a team of software engineers
  • Continually working to improve and evolve the production code base
What We're Looking For...

You know the importance of testing and quality control yet have a proven focus on delivery. You also have superb communication and social skills to enable you to work well and establish collaborations.


Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Degree in Mathematical, Computational Sciences
  • Creating plugins with Capacitor or other cross platform runtimes/frameworks
  • Experience with DriverKit
  • Experience working with Swift, C++ and C together
  • Experience of writing User Interface Tests using XCUITests
  • Experience with GRPC and Protobuf in Swift/Objective-C
  • Experience linking static and dynamic libraries in Xcode
  • Strong knowledge of Python
  • Experience working within an agile development framework
  • Experience within a clinical software environment
  • Experience writing tests at different levels of the testing pyramid
