Role purpose:


To provide administrative duties which contribute towards the effective health and safety legal compliance of CITB, to meet the standards to which it subscribes and promote the wellbeing of staff and learners.

This covers the key activities of CITB which include but are not limited to high risk exposure to staff visiting and reviewing learners health safety on construction sites; medium risk exposure to staff carrying out mobile work and visiting companies and individuals as lone working activity; low risk office work with high rate absence due to ergonomic issues and wellbeing issues relating high absence rates across all activities.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Work with the HS&W team to ensure compliance across all areas of CITB
  • Help maintain the HS&W management system
  • Provide administrative assistance to the HS&W team to ensure all documents, which include but
are not limited to procedures, risk assessments, and work instructions are current and fit for
purpose.

  • To support Implementation of health and wellbeing initiatives for all CITB, which include legal
compliance aspects of health-related legislation (such as stress; ergonomics linked to DSE) but
also wellbeing aspects which are not legal compliance but are aimed at reducing sickness absence
and improving the work culture and experience of staff

  • To be a point of contact for colleagues for DSE related enquiries, including becoming a DSE
assessor, liaising and meeting with the current assessor group to provide consistent and ongoing
support to CITB colleagues.

  • To be a point of contact for colleagues for safesmart queries, creating new starters, log in resets,
and to deliver demonstrations of the system in the absence of the HS&W advisor

  • Provide administrative support before, during and after internal and external audits, recording any
actions in the management system and assigning colleagues to ensure remedial actions are
completed in a timely manner.

  • To be the minute taker during meetings as requested by the HS&W team
  • To liaise with our communications team about specific HS&W events and to promote these across
CITB via different methods

  • Attend the H&S action group meetings and be the chair for periods of annual leave or absence
within the HS&W team.

  • Delivery of HS&W section during the Allcolleague induction and the people manager induction in the absence of the HS&W advisor
  • Other addoc administrative duties, for example

Essential

  • Good standard of secondary school education a minimum of 3 GCSE's (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent.
  • Proven organisation skills.
  • Competent verbal and written communication skills to enable confident communication with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational & prioritisation skills
  • Experience of working autonomously
  • Highly/Selfmotivated and positive attitude towards work
  • Reliability and discretion: will often learn of confidential matters
  • Adaptability and problemsolving skills
  • Leadership and the ability to 'make things happen'
  • Attention to detail

Desirable

  • DSE assessor training
  • Previous HS&W experience
