Technology Manager Gen+

Gen+ is an innovative start-up charity funded by the Peter Vardy Foundation, delivering a ground-breaking leadership and meta-skills programme to young people in schools - beginning with Scotland.

We are a small, dynamic team passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

Join Gen+ as our Technology Manager and drive technological excellence in our learning platform.

You will have a good understanding of platform operations, integrations and surrounding technology (preferably Learning Management Systems), knowledge around cloud hosting and be able to use SQL to create custom reports.

Build and configure programs on LMS (Include Programme structures, Digital Badges, School relationships, Meta-Skills Tracker)
Maintain/Develop the platform staging site for testing, demos, etc.
Build light SQL queries for custom reports, debugging or administration
Annual GDPR administration (purging user accounts and personal data)
Provide support and advice to schools and teachers re access, synchronisation and technology issues,
~ Occasionally) Visit schools to fact find, troubleshoot and gather information about technology issues, feedback to Gen+ and technology partner
~ Liaise with school partners (RMUnify, Local Authority IT admins) to resolve school issues
~ Conduct technical investigations using available tools (logging, web
~ Provide support and knowledge to Gen+ Edu team around Educational technology, LMS/Platform functionality, accessibility and general technology
~ Maintain the platform DPIA/Risk Assessment process – feeding into the Risk Register
Monitor and administer Web Application Firewall, submit issues to supplier when required
Manage and act upon the annual penetration testing exercise
Maintain and update the key security policies

Supplier and Contract Management
~ Manage technology partner to ensure value for money, service levels are appropriate, and issues are resolved in a timely manner
~ Cloud platform (AWS) – monitor platform for performance, value for money and identities are secured
~3rd party tool administration/management (TypeForm, YouTube, Slack, Google Console)
~ SQL(MySQL) administration
Scripting/querying– SQL, API (querying, not development), JSON (understanding)
Experience utilising a public cloud (AWS preferred)
Education technology including as Articulate and SCORM
Understanding of Web development technologies and troubleshooting (HTML, CSS, React, Django, F12 developer tools)
Web Application security (WAF, Vulnerability management, certificate management, encryption)
General IT/Technology skills – DNS, IP/Networking
Communication and Relationship building skills (liaising with schools)
