Description

Lead the formation of the annual workforce development plans, ensuring integration with the business planning cycle and optimal deployment of the workforce.

Work with Senior Managers and clinical teams within the Trust to provide a coherent and co-ordinated approach to planning and implementation of service changes.

Identify and individually act on commercial opportunities to maximise income while maintaining standards compliant with local and national guidance.

Responsible for direct liaison with the legislative bodies, ensuring appropriate inspections take place and a correct response is provided to the published recommendations with appropriate officers of the Trust being informed at all stages.

Lead the correct and timely implementation of all Trust Policies within Facilities Services.

Responsible for the development and implementation of service plans, business cases and proposals within the Facilities Services and support the same within the Department.

Lead on the development of Facilities-related and Trust-wide policies where appropriate. Lead on Facilities related SLAs with external organisations such as Crawley, Horsham and Caterham Dene.

Represent Estates & Facilities on Trust committees i.e. Workforce and Patient Experience.

Ensure value for money by representing the Trust on purchasing and supply-based issues relating to goods and services used within Facilities Services.

Manage services within allocated financial resources and identify cost and service improvements in support of business planning targets.


Ensure continuous improvements to KPIs in line with service needs and ensure information is recorded and reported accurately and appropriately.

Responsible for ensuring the delivery of National Standards of Cleanliness whilst supporting the Trust in the reduction of instances of MRSA infections, and ensure compliance to the NPSA cleaning manual and relevant elements of the hygiene code (Health Act Manage the Trusts PLACE programme and ensure the highest standards in the patient environment, working with the Estates and Capital Planning teams on all environmental upgrades and new projects.

Ensure complaints are dealt with sensitively and in accordance with Trust standards, taking corrective action where necessary and ensuring lessons learned are communicated and understood within Facilities Services.

Responsible for providing relevant management reports on all aspects of the Trusts Facilities Services and related standards. In doing so, collecting, presenting and interpreting relevant data and turning it into useful information. Developing departmental plans based on these reports findings. Represent the Director of Information & Facilities at various forums within the Trust and external bodies.


Deputise for the Associate Director of Estates & Facilities for nominated duties and activities and providing advice to the Trust Board and Chief Executive on Facilities and environmental matters.

Undertake specific projects as agreed with the Associate Director of Estates & Facilities. Take lead responsibility for Health and Safety, risk management, risk assessment and incident reporting databases for Facilities. Participate in the Facilities on-call rota.

Work autonomously in ensuring services are delivered and targets are met, interpreting and acting on complex information.

Present written and verbal reports to Trust Committees, including forums where patients are present, providing feedback on any issues raised and taking away any new concerns for further investigation and feedback.

Provide, receive and analyse highly complex technical data relating to Facilities functions and use data to produce reports and communicate technical issues to non-technical staff including Senior Managers and Executives.

Develop and implement effective channels and systems of communication including written and verbal, formal and informal to ensure that corporate and relevant departmental information is disseminated in a timely and appropriate manner.
