Overview of the role:
The JCB Occupational Heath Service currently employs Occupational Health Nurses, an Occupational Health Physician, and a full-time physiotherapist. We provide a full remit of occupational health services to staff.
To provide a professional and high-quality Occupational Health Service (OHS) in all areas of Occupational Health (OH) across J C Bamford Excavators Ltd. To provide expert OH advice to the Company's managers, staff and within Human Resources, enabling compliance with the Company's OH related policies, procedures, and practices, together with relevant legislative requirements. Contribute positively to the Occupational Health team with autonomous practice.
Key areas of responsibilities:
Clinical Competencies:
Assess, plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate programmes of Occupational Health care which meet the needs of the employees of J C Bamford Excavators and fulfil the legal obligations of the company to include programmes to prevent work-related ill health, and promote good health and wellbeing.
Support self-referral for employees and proactively support employees with long term conditions. Support the rehabilitation of employees in the workplace which may require assessment and adaptation of work to the employee.
Participation in the analysis of occupational accidents and diseases
Conduct immunisation programmes to protect the health of employees for example, Flu Vaccine.
Accurately document and store employee consultations and ensure the maintenance of all confidential occupational health records.
Provide appropriate emergency treatment for example anaphylaxis and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Manage and co-ordinate rapid access to allied services where appropriate (provide first response if an emergency arose).
Legal & Ethical:
Practice within the legal and ethical framework as established by the Nursing & Midwifery Council and national legislation to ensure employee interests and wellbeing are met.
Advise management when appropriate regarding the Equality Act 2010.
Initiate and assist in maintaining individual health records, assuming responsibility for their security and confidentiality and ensuring the systematic maintenance of all other recording systems within the Occupational Health Department, in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Access to Medical Records Report Act 1990.
Involved in reviewing and developing new policies and procedures.
Assist in the Co-ordination of audit and record keeping in relation to the Occupational
Education/Professional:
Registered General Nurse/current registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council, minimum 1 year's post registration experience.
Evidence of on-going training in anaphylaxis and CPR
Evidence of experience or recognised training in Venepuncture
Experience of leading a small team
Evidence of being able to communicate well at different levels of an organisation.
Time management skills.
Ability to travel to other company 8 geographical sites
Support appropriate professional development programmes within available resources
Teach and assess junior staff and students by acting as a mentor
Support appropriate professional development programmes within available resources
Provide health education and health promotion to patients, either individually or in group
