Description
We are looking for an experienced and motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join our Stroke/Neuro rehabilitation team.
Initially, you will be based on ward 9 Stroke Rehabilitation at the Freeman Hospital, but you will also then be expected to be able to cover the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and Neurosciences/Neurology at the RVI, when required, however training and supervision will be provided.
Using the Normal Movement Approach and physical rehabilitation
Using and interpreting standardised cognitive and perceptual assessments and planning purposeful therapy to assist development of the patient's skills.
Social integration within the hospital and the patient's homePatient led Goal Planning and working closely with family and carers

To carry a caseload of complex and highly complex patients within the specialty providing specialist therapy assessment and treatment, evidencing high level problem solving, reasoning skills and independence of judgement.
To be an active member of the inter-disciplinary team to ensure a consistent, equitable and high quality evidence based service is developed to meet the needs of patients.
To be responsible for own continued professional development and facilitate a learning culture within the team undertaking audit and practice development.
To provide day to day supervision of junior and support staff and students working in the specialist area.To provide highly specialist knowledge within the Trust and externally to therapists and other health care professionals from secondary and primary care.
