Optima are working with an automation company based in Rugby who are looking for a
Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join their business.

The goal of the role is,

  • Concept design
  • Assembly drawing & BOM development
  • Detail drawing and manufacturing spec definition
  • Development and design of mechanical structures and components for products and solutions

Main areas of responsibilities are:


  • To develop the mechanical groups, adhering to sold content by design to cost approach
  • To understand the cycle diagram of the station starting from machine schemes.
  • To define/check the correct manufacturing spec with detail drawings.
  • Achievement of time and costs targets of his / her part of project defined and shared with System Engineer / Project Engineer / Technical Leader
  • To response to the failure/risk/open issues discovered in manufacturing phase
  • To give support in case of failure/risk/open issues discovered in installation/commissioning phase.
  • Prepare documentation for design reviews (clamping strategy, flowcharts ) and customer deliverables required

For Senior Mechanical Designer:


  • Drive and check suppliers' work progress
  • Participate to design reviews
  • To check 2D drawings before delivery to manufacturing
  • To give technical support to System Engineer / Project Engineer / Technical Leader

in change management:


  • Focused on Time, Cost, Risk Management and Scope Change
  • Identifying opportunities and recommending changes that improve productivity, reduce cost, eliminate waste and improve the overall business. Track and submit reports on progress of the project
  • Plan project technical activities and staffing (times, costs)
  • Act as technical interface to customers through liaison and project meetings
  • Lead technical support in SE

Joining Technologies:
Lead SE validation of product and equipment

  • Interfaces with customer to review the product design. Strong emphasis placed on design for manufacture. Leads test method assessment and validation activities.
  • Assesses and approves the joining equipment as fit for purpose.
  • Provide technical assistance at the customer site
  • Create/coordinate documentation compliant with customer SE and Commissioning standards
  • Maintain good relationships with customers through quick effective feedback

  • Ability to guide a small team of junior mechanical engineers to complete the design and help the team to follow uniform technical solutions

Qualifications

  • High school technical degree or Bachelor's degree in engineering required

Junior Mechanical engineer: entry level, minimum experience in mechanical design is a plus
-
Senior Mechanical engineer: minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Automation System projects as mechanical designer and Automation Systems engineering department. Knowledges in process development and other cross functional experiencesare highly desirable.
