Job Title:
Production Team Leader
Reports to:Production Shift Manager

Purpose of Role


To co-ordinate the activities of the production area ensuring that orders are met in an efficient and timely fashion and that quality standards are upheld, and waste levels are minimised.


Key Role Accountabilities

  • To control the activities of your designated production area on a shiftbyshift basis.
  • To ensure that the quality of the product is of the highest standard, paying particular attention to the standard of dough, mixing, weights, proved height and bake.
  • To be responsible for the calibration of all check weighers at the beginning, middle and end of each shift.
  • To ensure that all necessary paperwork is fully completed and signed of at the end of each shift.
  • Responsibility for the completion of documentation required prior to removing raw materials from the stores area.
  • Responsible for the completion of documentation required for the movement of finished product from the production area to dispatch.
  • To complete accurate stock checks as and when required or directed.
  • Deputise for the Production Shift Manager in their absence.
  • Ensure all staff are trained according to job role specification and business needs.
  • Manage any staff performance issues and instigate procedures as and when necessary.
  • Ensure all ReturntoWork interviews are conducted appropriately and as and when required.

Management

  • Ensure all staff members adhere to all company procedures, including health and safety, food safety and quality policies.
  • Ensure the team is comprehensively supporting activities with appropriate documentation and data input.
  • Responsibility in managing attendance, returntowork meetings, annual leave approval and other processes for team members set by company HR policies and procedures.

Communication

  • To liaise with dispatch to ensure that appropriate quantities of required product are available as and when necessary.
  • Participate and contribute to the operations team meetings.
  • Communicate with the Production Manager and Quality Manager on issues involving quality and hygiene.
  • To ensure all quality/hygiene documentation is completed and processed.

Training

  • Ensure all operatives are trained and practise quality and hygiene procedures as set by the business.
  • To undertake training to update knowledge and experience and/or according to industry and business needs.

Quality

  • Maintain the highest quality standard procedures.
  • To ensure all quality documentation is completed in line with business requirement.
  • To monitor and record the quality of the bread at the various stages of production.
  • Ensure all products leaving the factory comply with the standards laid down by the company.

Hygiene

  • Ensure the adherence to statutory regulations and legislation that affect the production of food.
  • Complete all documentation required for the company hygiene procedures.
  • Adopting a "Clean as you go" approach across production.

Cleanliness

  • Ensuring that all working practices are in line with the company procedures.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of the production and distribution area.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure the compliance to all company health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure the adherence to statutory regulations and legislation that affect the production of food.
  • Reporting any HSE concerns to the HSE manager whilst completing the appropriate documentation.

Food Safety

  • Ensure all activities in the area are carried out in accordance with Food Safety Procedures.
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping adopting the 'clean as you go' approach.

Key Skills and Accountabilities

  • First line supervisory experience being conversant with the highest quality, hygiene, and safety disciplines appropriate to a short shelflife food production environment.
  • Motivating and building a genuine team ethos within the individuals designated area when on shift.
  • Excellent understanding of production and planning.
