PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

- GALAXY is a unique, proprietary _in vivo_ HTS platform for finding herbicides with new modes of action.
moa_
- GALAXY team and will support the primary high throughput compound screening activities and the downstream screening pipeline. As an Associate Scientist you will contribute to the phenotypic characterization of active molecules. Molecular Biology skills are not relevant to this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Execute manual and/or automated in vivo HTS assays for the identification of molecules with herbicidal activity.
- Conduct compound screening and profiling utilizing stateofthe art imaging tools
- Assist in running a busy HTS laboratory.
- Provide support to users of HTS instrumentation.
- Use a combination of specialised software and manual phenotyping to analyse large datasets.
- Help make recommendations to move promising compounds along the selection pipeline.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of laboratory work (e.g., electronic lab notebooks).
- Clearly communicate results, successes, and issues.
- Contribute to reports, SOPs, risk assessments, lab meetings, etc.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences.
- Experience working in a biology laboratory.
- Knowledge of biological safety requirements of tissue culture facilities and methods of preventing contamination.
- Knowhow and high precision in operating laboratory liquid dispensers (highly desirable).
- Experience in programming and troubleshooting laboratory liquid handling robots (highly desirable).
- Experience in phenotypic and/or high throughput screening (will be advantageous).
- Computer literacy and data handling.
- Experience working with plants (beneficial but not essential).
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong analytic skills in practical laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive and positive problemsolving mindset.
- Ability to always work in a safe manner ensuring procedures and SOPs are followed.
- Comfortable attitude towards the safe handling of potentially hazardous chemical compounds.
- Strong organisation skills. The postholder will be able to work independently under mínimal supervision.

Salary:
£22,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
