Resposbile to - Head of Community Supportive Care


Type of contract - Permanent


Hours - 30 hrs (negotiable)


Salary - WTE £20,475 Pro rata (30 hrs) - £16, 380

East Lancs Hospice
East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them.

We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people's own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously.

Therapy assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Creative and Supportive Therapy team


Are you a motivated individual with well-developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to support individuals with life limiting illness.


Working pro-actively as a key member of the support and wellbeing team you will actively engage with patients and their families to identify and achieve their priorities and goals by supporting meaningful activity that enhances quality of life.

Using your well-developed interpersonal skills you will demonstrate empathy, tact, sensitivity and discretion when working with palliative patients and their families who may be distressed at times.

You will actively contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of individualised therapeutic/creative activity programmes that maximise health and wellbeing outcomes and enable people to make the most of life.

Working at all times to safeguard the rights of individuals promoting their wellbeing and protecting those at risk from harm, acting on any concerns related to safeguarding children and adults at risk in line with policy and local guidance


Whilst a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social care is required you will have experience supporting people with life limiting illness, disability and vulnerability and be able to provide physical care as well as emotional and wellbeing support in a therapeutic environment.

Experience in palliative care as well as interest or experience in creative, wellbeing and diversional therapies advantageous.


What we offer


The salary for 30 hours is £16,380 Hours are worked over any 5 days, occasional weekend work to meet the needs of the service.
