Established in 2010, we have grown to over 260 employees, supporting just under 50 people, from 18 small homes across Cornwall.     About the role

    As Finance Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and ensuring the financial health and stability of the organisation. You will report directly to the Managing Director and work closely with the senior management team and the board of directors. This role is instrumental in guiding our financial strategy, contributing significantly to our sustainable growth, and our ongoing commitment to exceptional care for people with learning disabilities and autism.

    Green Light is an independent provider of accommodation and support for adults with autism and learning disabilities in Cornwall, UK established in 2010.

    Job title: Finance Director & Company Secretary

    Job Type:Full time permanent contract

    Salary:£60,000 to £70,000 per annum, depending on experience

    Reports to: The Managing Director

    Location: Office Based in Newquay, Cornwall

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Strategy and Leadership

    • Collaborate with the Managing Director, Executive Team, and Board to establish long-term financial goals and devise strategies to achieve them
    • Provide financial leadership ensuring the financial sustainability of the Group
    • Develop and monitor internal controls, financial compliance, and legal requirements

    Procurement and Contract Management

    • Develop effective procurement strategies and systems for the Group
    • Establish and manage contract systems for commissioned and purchased services

    Advisory Role

    • Act as a primary advisor to the Managing Director and Board on financial, commercial, and financial matters
    • Provide guidance on the financial implications of proposed actions and initiatives

    Financial Reporting and Compliance

    • Lead, direct and support the Finance Department, overseeing its functions and performance, including payroll function and pension arrangements
    • Provide technical data support to the Finance & Payroll Departments
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regularly updated financial models, forecasts and cash flows
    • Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and produce monthly accounts and performance reports for discussion
    • Present the financial position to the Board and relevant parties

    Risk Management and Control

    • Oversee and ensure robust financial controls are in place to mitigate risk of fraud and errors
    • Cultivate a positive culture of financial responsibility, value for money balanced with high quality outcomes across the organisation
    • Maintain a Risk Register and ensure adequate control measures for identified financial risks

    Statutory Compliance and Company Secretarial Duties

    • Prepare statutory annual accounts, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and collaborating with external auditors
    • Undertake all company secretarial duties to ensure legal, financial, and reporting compliance

    Cost Analysis and Management

    • Develop and maintain financial models for the Group's activities
    • Advise on the cost-effectiveness of operations

    Commercial Development

    • Lead annual fee negotiation processes and liaison with sponsors
    • Lead on lease negotiation processes and liaison with landlords
    • Support the Managing Director and Executive Team with growth, development, and revenue stream projects
    • Monitor project progress and assess assumptions

    Financial Relationship Management

    • Develop and implement strategies to raise necessary finance
    • Manage relationships with financial supporters and ensure compliance with their requirements

    Other Duties

    • Undertake additional reasonable duties as directed by the Board or Managing Director
    • Oversee and assist with the preparation of accounts for associated companies

    Chartered Accountant

    Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
