    Job summary

    Nottingham University Hospitals is in one of the UK's largest acute teaching hospital Trusts and has a national and international reputation for many of its specialist services and expertise. These include Neurology & Neurosurgery which this post will be integrated into. This is a 12 month secondment to cover the current post holders maternity leave.

    The successful post holder will become an integral part of the MDT within these specialities in helping with the management of the medications used within the conditions.

    The post holder will also provide leadership to the surgical pharmacy team at the Queens Medical Centre helping support the junior members of this team.

    Main duties of the job

    You will be responsible for working directly with our clinicians, nurse specialists and finance teams to deliver safe and effective treatment to patients within Neurology & Neurosurgery.

    This role provides an excellent opportunity for experienced, motivated clinical pharmacists to take on responsibility for an exciting, high profile clinical specialities.

    As a senior member of the pharmacist team there will be the opportunity to help support and mentor the junior members of the team. You will be supported by the divisional lead pharmacist for surgery, as well as being able to call upon the support of the large pharmacy department at NUH.

    Job responsibilities

    The post will be based at the Queens Medical Centre, but there may be the potential need to travel to the Nottingham City Hospital Campus and potentially to other trusts in the region as required. The role will be mainly Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm, but these hours are negotiable. You will also be required to participate in a rostered weekend and bank holiday rota. In addition to this there is a requirement to support the on-call pharmacists through the senior pharmacist back-up rota.

    The pharmacy department at NUH is forward thinking and constantly implementing innovative ways of working to deliver the best possible patient care. We continue to extend the ideal model of delivering medicines optimisation and pharmaceutical care where pharmacists are fully integrated into the medical teams, supported by a team of medicines management technicians and assistants.

    You will be joining NUH at an exciting time as we have just recently transitioned to electronic prescribing bringing new opportunities to enhance the way in which we deliver care to our patients.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or other appropriate post graduate qualification or experience

  • Experience of clinical pharmacy service delivery
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Wide previous experience (post registration) including in hospital pharmacy
