We are an established construction company, based in Glasgow and Manchester, undertaking new build, refurbishment and insurance reinstatement work within the industrial, commercial, residential, retail and residential sectors throughout the United Kingdom.
This year, we celebrate 40 years of trading and providing building excellence in everything that we do.An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Construction Buyer to join our commercial team.
The role will be full time on a permanent contract, within a fast-paced environment and based at our Glasgow Head Office.
Intermittent site visits will be required, the cost of which will be reimbursable.Reporting to the Commercial Director, your duties will include for the following:
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Placing purchase orders for material and plant
- Obtaining quotes and prices for contracts department
- Purchasing materials at the best rates, value, and specification compliant
- Ensuring all goods are delivered on the required date
- Working to stringent deadlines
- Liaising with other internal departments to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Send out enquiries, analyse and collate quotations
- Advise Surveyors costs for budgetary and tender purposes
- Approach, set up and manage accounts with new suppliers
- Resolution of any invoice queries and disputes
- Issue tender enquiries for any PSL agreements, review returns and appoint
- Reception duties
- Answering the phone
- Check purchase invoices and enter on computer system timeously
- Check price lists and quotes to passing purchase invoices
- File purchase invoice for payment run
- Liaise with suppliers regarding queried invoices
- Place orders for stationery
- Assist with tender preparation
Requirements:
- Must be able to demonstrate relevant experience within the Construction Industry
- Excellent negotiating and buying skills
- Positive cando attitude
- Selfmotivated and proactive
- Competent with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office programs
- Mathematical competence
- Excellent communication with internal and external parties
- Team player
- Experience with Sage 200 and payroll (preferable but not essential)
Salary:
£25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
