Job description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated leader and manager.

The role is high profile and challenging, the Assistant Head of Soft Facilities Management (SFM) is a key senior leader within the DIO South West and Reserves Forces & Cadets Association (RFCA) delivery Region.


Ownership of the performance and management of the delivery of contracted SFM and associated services to military users within the South West region.

This includes contract management and key relationship management with senior users, key service providers and departmental operations including Finance, Commercial, Governance and Policy.


Providing a significant sense of achievement in ensuring the operation and assurance of complex multi-million-pound SFM Contracts across the Region achieve contracted Key Performance Indicators and Service Delivery Standards.


Person specification:

Engaging with other stakeholders, DIO customer base and Industry Partners, on performance management. Seeking to build and lead your team within a collaborative environment. Working with our trusted partners in setting the standards expected for a service delivery approach.

  • Improving IP relationships by developing and embedding a programme of formal and informal meetings.
  • Conducting reviews of performance, risk management, compliance and assurance each month and an annual triparty assurance programme.
  • Ensuring effective working relationships between DIO, IP and Users and maintain effective comms on Service Delivery matters across and between all groups.
  • Ensuring improvement plans are implemented as necessary in discussion with the IP and Customer.


As part of the Regional Delivery function and SW & RFCA senior leadership team you will have a critical role as an individual leader.

This will involve developing strong relationships across the SW and wider RD, to align existing processes such as including Assurance, Change and Risk & Benefit Management, to put in place plans to improve and measure success.


In the context of day-to-day operational challenges, you will be key to the development of and mentoring of your team taking them from strength to strength using the DIO leadership code as the underpinning foundation throughout.

Whilst not a pre-requisite, the role will benefit from prior experience in infrastructure and or soft facilities management.

However, a proven track record in operational leadership and leading a geographically dispersed team to deliver excellent results is essential.
