    The Strategic Data Scientist will drive, deliver and enable the most advanced data and analytics problem-solving in our UKIE Human Pharma business, ensuring, through their thought-leadership, strategic insights and technological expertise, that HP UKIE maximizes the potential of data science to drive decision-making and create competitive advantage.

    As part of this, you will create/maintain related strategic data science relationships, e.g.

    with Regional/National NHS stakeholders in the data science field, as well as potential private partners in the wider healthcare data science landscape.

    The SDS will independently execute data science projects across the company to solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems by applying advanced methods (including machine learning and AI) to create a combination of solutions, new hypotheses based on both new and existing real world data related to human health.

    You will use data science and advanced analytics techniques to generate actionable insights that support the commercial objectives of HP UKIE – proactively undertaking exploratory analysis and model development and validation to drive better decision-making across the organisation.

    You will maintain a deep understanding of business problems and design end-to-end data science use cases and solutions. They will effectively contextualize and translate complex technical topics for diverse stakeholders in BI and customers

    You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, to understand data, IT and business opportunities and constraints – developing insightful data models and visualisations, and promoting an agile, data-driven culture within BI.

    The role will balance data science and engineering with leadership and product ownership.

    While the Strategic Data Scientist will have substantial thought-leadership competency in both data science and product ownership/leadership, you will have distinctive thought leadership and expertise in one of these capabilities.

    Independently lead and execute data science projects across the UK and Ireland OPU to solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems by applying advanced methods and new hypothesis based on real world data related to human health

    Establish highly effective collaborations with cross-functional teams (including sales, marketing, medical, and market access), to identify key business questions and develop appropriate analytical approaches to empower smart decision making.

    Utilize high quality, cutting edge analytical approaches to solve problemsProvide regular, distinctive data-science input and thought leadership to business strategy.

    Create/maintain strategic data science relationships for our core business, e.g. collaborate with Regional/National NHS stakeholders in their field (data science/stats etc)

    Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standardsContinuously improve analytics processes and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and the overall impact of insights on commercial decision-making.

    Support vendor selection on data science topics, collaborate and manage developers to implement and deploy scalable solutionsSupport the development of data science talents at HP UKIE by sharing his/her knowledge and expertise, project management, time management, data science approaches and analytical questions with more junior colleagues.

    Either Industry-leading technical expertise in advanced analytics methodologies, tools, and techniques, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, predictive modeling, and data mining PLUS Excellent team leader / product owner experience – agile delivery, stakeholder relationship management, business analysis, project and product management.

    AndHigh level of expertise to extract and develop deep analytical insights from complex data sets including identification of patternsDemonstrated ability to solve challenging and prior un-solved questions

    High level of expertise in relevant methods and skills such as machine learning, advanced statistics, algebra, data visualizaion, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, classification methods, feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, data handling algorithms, regression methods, time-series analysis, predictive modelling, causal inference methods, Bayesian networks, Markov random fields, text analysis, etc.

    Proficiency in programming languages and software tools commonly used in data analytics and data science, such as R, Python, SQL, Tableau, or Power BI.Strong self-driven ability to develop analytical expertise further through data science project work and close monitoring of academic and industrial developments of relevant fields.

    Ability to develop, evaluate and apply scientific problem-solving approaches to challenging analytical problemsAbility to work autonomouslyExcellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
