The University Of Northampton are looking for an admissions administrator to support the existing team.Within the overall team structure, to take responsibility for and develop a comprehensive understanding of a portfolio of courses.
To be a source of expertise on admissions matters and be able to provide concise and accurate information to applicants and staff.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain and update the student record system including applicants' personal details, communications, offers, referrals, transfers, withdrawals etc
- Act as an effective team member under the guidance of a Team Leader or Coordinator
- Provide an excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Use tracking and monitoring mechanisms
- Produce standard reports from the student record system using reporting tools and spreadsheets
- Process forms and documentation for new students in accordance with procedures, policies and regulations
- Liaise with internal departments e.g. Marketing and International Relations, Student Services, Student Records Teams, academic tutors and other University staff
- Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of own work
- Exceptional accuracy on data entry to the student record system following checking procedures
- Manage own diary, working independently where necessary
- Provide office and telephone cover as required
- Enrol students on programmes following standard procedures
- Participate in crossdepartmental and institutional activities e.g. ceremonies, enrolment, Clearing, Discovery Days and Open Days, with occasional evening and weekend work
- Develop an understanding of the HE environment
- Engage in professional development
- Act as mentor, where required
Skills and experience
Five GCSEs (to include English Language) at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualification or experience
GCSE Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualification or experience
Excellent IT skills including experience of databases and Microsoft Office
Experience of working independently and as part of a team
Experience of delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to identify issues and problems and use initiative to identify solutions
Experience of adhering to procedures, precedents, policy or legislation
Demonstrable experience in multi-tasking and handling of complex processes
Experience of working within an office environment,
Operational experience in the use of student record systems
Experience of managing busy workloads and prioritising competing deadlines
Positive and flexible approach
Excellent, effective and clear written and verbal communication skills
100% accuracy when handling data and excellent attention to detail
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to adapt to organisational change
Ability to adapt to technological advances in the workplace
