Why this role exists.
The Responsive Repairs team carry out a wide range of responsive repairs in our customer's homes. Providing a 24/7 service. Repairs are completed to a high standard meeting regulatory requirement, and in line with Health & Safety procedures.


The teams consist of joiners, plumber, plasterers, electricians and a building team who collaborate to ensure delivery a quality service with high levels of customer satisfaction.


What will my working week look like?

  • The working week for this role will be split between line managing the Responsive Repairs team and undertaking repairs in our customers' homes when required. This will be determined by service needs to best support our customers and the Responsive Repairs team.
  • Supporting and leading the responsive repair team, following Calico's performance management framework, ensuring that they are engaged with Calico's vision, values and strategic objectives.
  • Deliver value for money within the repairs service, ensuring that productivity is maximised whilst ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Promote where possible that repairs are a firsttime fix, utilising correct van stocks, managing the multi
- skilled workforce effectively and encouraging a flexible approach to working.
  • Work alongside other colleagues in the repairs service to problem solve and take responsibility for issues arising that could lead to delays or additional repairs needing to be carried out.
  • Being proactive in identifying areas for improvement and provide constructive feedback in steps to be taken to improve the responsive repair service.
  • To engage and participate within company activities and make a positive contribution.
  • Contribute towards any project work as required.
  • Complete pre and post inspections.
  • To assist with investigations for complaints that are raised to ensure they are dealt with effectively and any learning outcomes are identified and implemented.
  • Supervision of direct reports through team meetings, 11s, toolbox talks and My Time Sessions. Oversee recruitment, absence monitoring and performance management.

Essential Criteria

  • Recognised trade qualification NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Ability to display leadership skills to line manage a team comprising of multi skilled repair operatives.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload and that of a team.
  • Ability to undertake small repairs outside of the trade which you hold a qualification.
  • Experience of completing pre & post inspections.
  • Experience of delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Experience of working in a property maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations, requirements, and best practice.
  • Excellent decision making, communication and organisation skills.
  • Understanding of 'value for money' and 'right first time'
  • Full driving license.

Desirable Criteria

  • Asbestos qualification.
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience of working in a management/supervisory position and demonstrating an excellent track record in staff management.
  • Experience of working within a social housing organisation.
  • Experience of using a range of I.T packages.
