    Specialty Doctor in Oncology - Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom - The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oncology Specialty Doctor to join the Oncology team at St Luke's Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital (RSH), for a 24 month fixed-term contract.

    The successful applicant will be based at the RSH in Guildford providing a high level of medical care to the Oncology patients in the outpatient clinics. The job plan will involve travelling to our local outreach partner oncology sites to provide clinic cover, as well as working on the Guildford site. There will be an expectation to work within the tumour group teams, covering the service, where required. This may require travelling to any of our outreach partner sites. Excellent communication and team working will be required with the tumour teams. The post holder will also be required to cover regular on call duties, as per the contract. This is a 10PA post consisting of outpatient clinics, ward work, AOS, MDT meetings, radiotherapy and chemotherapy prescribing. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration. This is a new post within the department and will be a permanent appointment. Main duties of the job Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the delivery of the Oncology service for the Division. Provide direct input to patient care, contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and participate in the delivery and development of management strategies for routine Oncology conditions, both elective and emergency. Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods. Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development. The Royal Surrey County Hospital Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the St. Lukes Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust.     Qualifications / Registration
    Essential
    • Full GMC Registration with license to practice
    • At least four years of postgraduate training, two of which are in a relevant specialty
    • FRCR or Equivalent

    Experience
    Essential

    • Oncology expertise in specialist tumour group
    • Fully trained Specialist in chosen field, experience in Clinical Oncology
    • Ability to offer opinion on and take independent responsibility for Oncology patients in the specialist tumour group
