The Role

Duties and responsibilities of the Chief Engineer include:

Leading the Construction Sector Engineering team:
Responsibility for quality throughout the project life cycle from requirements definition through to final delivery
Customer proposal review for alignment of MTC capabilities to customer requirements and clearly defined project outcomes that are impactful and value generating
Technical Governance of projects, focused on delivery in line with original proposal, including Change Note amendments and demonstration of MTC "Value Added" to the customer
Working with the technology groups to develop MTC capability in line with Sector customer needs
Supporting Sector Business Development focused on alignment of customer needs and MTC capabilities
Academic and Industrial Engagement, working with academic partners to augment and sign post MTC capabilities and vice versa to broaden and deepen the MTC network
Add technical value and direction to projects; where appropriate


The Person
Knowledge of the MTC
Familiar with MTC Core technologies and capabilities
Internal network of contacts across MTC Technology groups and key fact holders
Understands MTC processes and systems
Extensive experience in one, or more, MTC core technologies
Construction Sector Knowledge
Understands the nature, drivers and issues for businesses within the Construction Sector
Aware of the standards and compliance requirements for the sector
Aware of the key client departments, customers, supply chains and academia in the sector
Good general commercial awareness
