The role
As a Production Support Operative, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems business area.


Day to day, you'll conduct a wide range of activities to support the facilitation of production activities, for example; material handling, forklift truck driving, stores activities, kit inspection, grinding, cable pulling etc.

The position is diverse in nature, with clear progression routes, which may include opportunities for some to enrolling to be a fully qualified Trades Person in the future.

PSO skills may be wide ranging, and training will be conducted in line with business needs at the time.


Initially each PSO will receive a minimum 5-week training programme, delivered in partnership with Fife College, to provide the appropriate skills and knowledge required to support you in your role.

A clear grading structure is available thereafter.


Shift working and overtime may be required as part of the role and will be in accordance with business requirements.

To note; this position may involve working at height and in confined spaces.

Essential experience of the Production Support Operative:

  • All training will be provided, so experience of manufacturing/ operations is not mandatory
  • You may have experience in; transport/ driving, safety, manufacturing, fabrication, welding, access, assembly, stores, slinging, cranes which is desirable but not essential
  • Driving licence is desirable but not essential
  • We are looking for attitudes and behaviours in line with our Company Purpose and Principles
  • Competent teamworking, communication, time management, prioritisation, organisational, multitasking, and problemsolving skills are required
