    The Vacancy

    Here at EMIS we are searching for three additional Associate Engineers to join us on a permanent basis.

    This could be the perfect opportunity for someone who has some experience of coding by being self-taught, completed a bootcamp or industry experience, we want to hear from you

    As an Associate Engineer you will sit within our Customer Support function, where you will be responsible for creating software solutions to problems raised against our product suite. We will provide you with the support, training, coaching and development you need to further your career at EMIS.

    You will receive support from Expert Developers, Engineering Managers, Customer Support Team Leaders, and Technical Directors, we will give you what you need to succeed.

    Please note this is a hybrid role and will require you to be on-site 2 days per week in our Leeds office. We are looking at a start date of June 2024

    What you'll do

    It may sound cliché, but here at EMIS we really do operate in fast-paced and ever-changing environment, but we have fun along the way.

    You will proactively learn the codebase, write basic code, fix defects, and assist the wider development team. We are looking for you to lead in the championing of the prioritisation of outstanding problem tickets to ensure service to our customers.

    Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

    • Actively reduce outstanding problem ticket backlogs, relating to their chosen capability in their chosen product.
    • Lead in the development and delivery of code changes to provide resolution.
    • Continue to upskill yourself and improve your coding skills.
    • Help to resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches.
    • Work cross-functionally with various teams across the organisation.
    • Be an initiative-taking member of the team, collaborating effectively with your team to deliver against commitments.

    Who you'll be

    We are interested in you and your aptitude and appetite to learn. We want to hear about your desire to pursue a career in Software Engineering.

    You will demonstrate a basic knowledge of one or more programming languages, frameworks, and databases, this will include and SQL.

    We are a customer centric business and would like you to have that customer focus too. The ability to build great working relationships with your peers, stakeholders and customers is key.

    Other skills and experience we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

    • Solution driven with a creative mindset.
    • Great attention to detail and quality focused.
    • Keen to build operational knowledge in 21st century IT (Cloud, Social, Mobility, IoT, Big Data, etc).
    • Appetite to learn and apply architecture best practices and patterns.
    • Understanding of other programming languages and the software development lifecycle e.g. (AWS, React, Agile).
