Job Purpose
We are recruiting for a Database Architect to help progress Calyx's cloud-native journey. As Database Architect, you will create high and low level designs for our databases and infrastructure.

A particularly exciting part of this role involves our on-goingtransformation from reliance on traditional SQL or Oracle databases towards exploring Azure's PaaS capabilities such as Cosmos DB.

As Database Architect, you will work closely with our solution & domain architects as well as our implementation teams understand the needs of the database solutions, defining patterns and standards to ensure consistency and best practice in the deliveryand operation of the platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity for an architect with a strong grounding in traditional databases with a keen interest in exploring cloud database solutions.

If you have experience in migrating SQL/Oracle databases to the cloud, that's great If not, that'sokay too - we can develop & upskill you in this space.

Role Responsibilities

Provides advice / guidance / expertise to support adoption of database tools and methods and adherence to policies and standards, process tailoring in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools.
Contributes to selection of the requirements approach for projects, selecting

- appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches.

Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity.
Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements.
Reviews requirements for errors and omissions.
Establishes the requirements baseline, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
Investigates and processes and applies requests for changes to baselined requirements.
Supports market monitoring and assessment of emerging technologies to evaluate potential impacts, threats and opportunities.
Contributes to reports and technology road mapping and sharing knowledge and insights with of emerging technologies with others.
Assesses, analyses, develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change.
Defines complex / new integration builds

Essential Skills and Experience

Previous experience within database architecture with a solid grounding in onpremise/relational database technologies such as SQL and Oracle.
Experience and/or knowledge around cloud data solutions, preferably in Azure.
Demonstrable experience in technical delivery with a proven record in undertaking design and architecture activities.
Experience in agile delivery.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Shows initiative and selfconfidence is adaptable and is able to cope with changing and evolving priorities.
Must have the ability to work methodically in a fastpaced, timesensitive environment.
Previous experience migrating onpremise data solutions to cloud solutions (ideally within Azure) would be highly beneficial but not essential.
