    Manufacturing Engineering Manager

    G&H Torquay

    Here at G&H Torquay, we manufacture a line of active and passive fiber optic components and modules that offer the performance and reliability required for some of the most demanding and challenging applications in the world. We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to have overall responsibility for the ME function across the Torquay site.

    As a member of the site management team, you will have responsibility for improving and defining new products for the release to manufacture following their design phase in site or central development engineering. You'll also be in control of managing cost improvement objectives and technical support of the operational function.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provide technical support to manufacturing with respect to product/process design and functionality
    2. Retain the relationship with the Product Management and Product Engineering to ensure constant collaboration
    3. Involvement with projects and in some instances take the lead with customer communication
    4. Manage technical issue escalation process from manufacturing, with the appropriate level of on hand shop floor support in each production area
    5. Drive implementation and maintenance of LEAN and CI practices across the organisation
    6. Achieve budget for labour and material cost reduction in agreement with site objectives
    7. Drive disruptive cost reduction plans into existing processes
    8. Resolve issues with manufacturing when product quality risks are identified
    9. Manage transfer of NPI to release to manufacture, optimizing cost through process, material, and yield in collaboration with Product & Development Engineering and Manufacturing
    10. Support the training of new and existing processes, raising training and process corrective actions with manufacturing when required
    11. Establish and maintain best practice operational process for clean rooms
    12. Drive culture of Manufacturing Engineering excellence
    13. Support Quality, Supply Chain & Manufacturing Managers ensuring all aspects of the business support the needs of our customers
    14. Management and ownership for the collation and presenting of COPQ data, including yield, cycle times

    Ideal candidates will have the following:

    • 5+ years' experience in an engineering or manufacturing leadership role
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment essential
    • Engineering (Optics/Electronics/Mechanical/Software) Degree or equivalent preferred
    • Proven internal presentation skills
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Innovation and Creativity
