What's the scope of the role?_**As Head of Continuous Improvement & Operational Support you will lead the development and monitoring of the Asset Operations business strategy, liaising with the technology business units and Asset Operations leadership team to ensure alignment to technology plans and the wider EDF Renewables Business Strategy.


As Head of Continuous Improvement & Operational Support will oversee a plan of transformation activities and projects which are designed to improve systems, ways of working and the overall performance of the Asset Operations directorate again it's business objectives, reporting progress to the Director of Asset Operations and wider Executive team.

Head of Continuous Improvement and Operational Support will oversee the delivery of business support activities within the Asset Operations, which includes managing all finance and property management activities.

What you will be doing day to day._**Your role will be to provide expert oversight to the AO business plan and strategic objectives, and governance activities to ensure alignment with the company business strategy, strategic change pillars and improvement priorities.

Lead the business improvement activities within AO to support each function (and multidisciplinary teams) to define, implement and coordinate agreed improvements in line with the agreed strategy.


  • Oversee the development and management of agreed AO system improvement projects to ensure effective implementation plans are agreed and executed and return on investments are achieved.
  • To agree and oversee the development of detailed AO departmental plans, which are owned by each functional area and support delivery of the wider departmental and company plans.
  • Oversee the identification of risks to the successful delivery of agreed plans, such as dependencies and resource limitations, and put in place mitigating actions. Work with AO Departmental Managers and key stakeholders to ensure that projects remain on track, seeking support from EDF ER Executive in addressing barriers where required.
  • Utilise relationships with business leaders, shareholders, external service providers, etc., to mobilise and enable priority initiatives
  • Develop and implement common tools and approaches and frameworks for improvement initiatives to utilise across AO.
  • Lead the development of a learning culture and continuous improvement environment within AO through implementation of our approach to Quality Management.
  • Undertake statistical and data analysis when required to support / drive improvement initiatives and business improvements within AO.
  • To work with key business stakeholders to build a Continuous Improvement environment to support an ongoing programme of change and to grow employees' understanding of Continuous Improvement tools.

What do you need to be great at this role?_**You will be degree qualified in either engineering or a business discipline, or equivalent, but with strong experience in change management and business strategy development coupled with excellent understanding of the commercial drivers related to achieving high performance and a strong commercial background.


  • Demonstrable experience delivering change projects that directly support the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Experience of having managed change programmes.
  • Ability to think strategically and prioritise change initiatives in a strategically aligned way. Experience of renewables industry or similar.
  • Experience of influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders to achieve results and manage relationships
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively at multiple levels, including presentations and written documents.
  • Curiosity to challenge established processes and continuously improve the business.
  • Experience of the renewables energy industry would be advantageous, and/or experience of small/midsize organisation dealing with rapid growth.
  • Able to work effectively in Microsoft software programs, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a team player and able to demonstrate experience successfully dealing with peers, management, cross functional groups, project stakeholders and unaffiliated third parties.
  • Fast learner who is able to gain a quick understanding of operability and performance expectations of renewable energy technologies.
