local authority in the

West London region, to recruit experienced

Communications Officer. If you are looking to increase your earnings for the year,


Contract:


Until December (possible extension)

Salary:
£26 umbrella

Start Date:
ASAP
**Shift Pattern: 37 hours per week /Monday - Friday / 9:00am - 5:00pm
**HYBRID WORKING AVAILABLE

DUTIES

  • Draft, edit and proof public information including letters, newsletters, leaflets, web text, and posters in conjunction with the relevant service area and service users, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the central communications team, senior officers, managers, and staff as well as partner agencies to ensure effective communications exist throughout the organisation and beyond, including gathering information from across the business which can be used in responses to media and briefing documents for Councillors.
  • Answer internal queries in relation to communications and public information and utilise internal communication channels to keep staff up to date and informed.
  • Source good news stories from across the Council and draft news stories for the website and social media content.
  • Work with the Council's Consultation team to carry out surveys and consultations to understand residents' needs and help improve the way we communicate with our community.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • At least 2 years' experience within a Housing Officer role or equivalent.
  • Currently working in the field with significant and demonstrable communications and public information management and writing experience.
  • Experience in delivering multimedia campaigns and helping to create or edit video.
  • Experience in responding to media enquiries and selling in stories to journalists.
