Equipment & Technology Officer:


Initial Assessment Team have a 12 month internal secondment/ fixed term contract opportunity for an Equipment and Technology Officer (ETO) with the Independent Living Hub.


Independent Living Hub / Independence East


The Independent Living Hub sits within the Initial Assessment Team and leads on projects to review adults discharged from hospital and with high-cost care packages in the locality teams.

The objective is to provide equipment and assistive technology to maximise independence/reduce risk, whilst delaying/reducing the need for care and support.

The team run a weekly bathing clinic at Independence East and deliver training across health and social care on use equipment and technology.


Independence East is a clinic, assessment, training and demo centre that holds a range of equipment for independent living, minor & major adaptations and assistive technology.


Purpose and aims of ETO role:

  • Work together with OTs and Social Workers within the Tech Enabled Care (TEC) Projects to identify Assistive Technology solutions to increase safety and independence for service users and carers.
  • Liaise with Telecare Team to follow up recommendations and track installation of Assistive Technology for TEC project cases.
  • Undertake bathing clinic assessments at Independence East and support with coordinating weekly bathing clinic.
  • Support with coordinating Trusted Assessor Training and bookings at Independence East Demo Centre.
  • Carry out training, demonstrations and act as an expert resource for equipment and technology.
  • Provide and maintain uptodate information and advice regarding equipment and technology to meet the needs of service users and carers.
Further training on Assistive Technology and clinical guidance/supervision will be provided for the role.
