- Honours degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or similar quantitative discipline where data analytics plays a key role- ideally a(2:1+) honours degree
- 4+ years of serious commercial experience working in a data analytics role.
- wrangling mastery - having the data shaping skills needed to deliver analysis across relational and non-relational data structures, working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured formats.
- proficiency - very comfortable employing statistical techniques to solve commercial problems, including, hypothesis testing, feature transformations, dimensionality reduction, correlation analysis, regression analysis (multiple linear and logistic), time series analysis and Bayesian methods.
- skills - adept in Python and its core data/analytics libraries (including in relation to working with Amazon Dynamo DB), alongside SQL, HiveQL, Scala. You will also have good familiarity with Git for version control and project management, alongside some knowledge of Linux/Shell.
- data platform familiarity - previous experience of working with both Apache Spark and MapReduce data processing and analytics frameworks.

Role overview
Data Analytics plays a key part in this mission, working to bring together, explore and make sense of disparate data sources, which combine to create compelling stories for our clients such as developing trends and next best actions. This function will serve as:
1. A bridge between data engineering and data science, helping us to explore and develop initial hypothesis for new data products and services, including appraisals of new data sources.
2. As a data translator and narrative generator, working alongside our business intelligence (BI) specialists to shape and deliver compelling, data-driven insights through reports, presentations, visualisations and dashboards.
As such we are looking for a stellar Data Analyst (DA) professional to join our dynamic team, working with our most excellent data engineers, data scientists and our superb senior data analyst Verity.".
What will you be doing?
We're convinced that the data analyst role is key to a high functioning data & insights team, playing a part in many aspects of our work, here are some of the key areas we will looking for this role to progress:
Data discovery . Evaluating new data sources and how they can enhance current/support new product propositions through appropriately designed experiments.
Data trust . Providing analytics on the reliability of existing data and in collaboration with our data engineers helping to productionise on going monitoring with benchmarks.
Feature generation. Working with our data science team to explore and develop new/improved data features.
Measuring success . Researching and developing appropriate measures of product efficacy and return on investment (ROI) in collaboration with our sector experts.
Strategic Analytics. Identifying our clients' and business' analytical needs, organising these into clear, actionable plans, and ensuring their effective execution.
Insight Navigation . Liaising with our clients (directly or through events, conferences, webinars etc.), to help support their data driven journeys, finding the most compelling, clean and clear approach to effectively communicating their data insights story.
Emerging technologies. Researching augmented analytics and related artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to enhance our output - helping to implement solutions where practical.
Evolving standards. Working with the full data & insights team to further enhance our systems of work.
"Please note this is a professional, technical role, with no line management responsibilities. There will however be multiple opportunities to lead data engineering workstreams."
