    This is a developmental role via the Podiatry (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship standard (RefST0493) over 4 years.

    You will work towards successful completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in podiatry and recognition by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Allied HealthProfessional AHP Podiatrist.

    You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competenciesrelated to the role of a Podiatrist through your apprenticeship within the service as well as through completion of the Podiatry Apprenticeship training programme.

    This includes working in clinic and community care settings, and delivery of direct person-centred care.

    Whilst undertaking this trainingyou will work within the service as a Podiatry Apprentice, where your role will reflect your learning.

    The Podiatry-Apprenticeship Programme combines and integrates academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers.

    As a Podiatry Apprentice you will be based as an employee within Central and Northwest London NHS Trust, working in a variety of clinical settings.

    This will enable you to gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts, which will enable you to fulfil all the requirements of the BSc (Hons) Podiatry programme.

    o To be actively involved in the provision of Foot Health Educationadvice to patients, relatives and carerso Deliver foot health education training to other health professionals asdirected by the specialist podiatrist.o To assist and support clients before and during specialist treatmentfor example Nail Surgery, MSK and High-Risk Diabetic Foot Clinic.

    Working in London borough of Camden Podiatry team of approx 20 with a highly mixed skill set.

    Clinics UCH tier 4, IPU Diabetic clinic with MDT, community podiatry, PNA surgery, ward rounds, home visits, MSK lab.

    To be actively involved in the provision of Foot Health Educationadvice to patients, relatives and carers Deliver foot health education training to other health professionals asdirected by the specialist podiatrist.

    To assist and support clients before and during specialist treatmentfor example Nail Surgery, MSK and High-Risk Diabetic Foot Clinic.

    To understand the implications of medication and medical conditionson care and treatment planning and relate this to the patient, familyor carer as appropriate.

    Assess conditions and risk status of the feet of an individual withdiabetes and discussing the results of the examination with theindividual and/or carer and explain any specific problems(s), whichmay require further tests or treatment and implement these referrals.

    To continually review patients progress and refer as necessary toother health care professionals and podiatry clinical specialist leadsto ensure appropriate care is providedAdministration To maintain accurate records of activity and contribute input intotrust information systems as directed To maintain accurate records of all patient consultations and relatedwork carried out at each clinical session, including computeriseddata collection.

    To ensure that you adhere to the Trusts Policy on Confidentiality andthe Data Protection Act 1998 when using any electronic or manualinformation or record systems.

    To ensure that all annual, sick and study leave and other non-clinicaldata is recorded in line with the service requirements.

    To ensure that statistical clinical data is recorded onto theCommunity Information System in an accurate and timelymanner.

    Performance andQuality To be responsible for the assessment and diagnosis of new andexisting patients in line with departmental protocols usingjudgements involving complex facts requiring the comparison of arange of options.

    To provide appropriate and effective care plans based on analysisof information gained from assessments To prioritize clinical time to best manage clinical caseload, ensuringclinics are appropriately booked in order to maximise delivery ofappropriate and effective care, liaising closely with clinical andsupport staff to achieve this To deliver care based on selection of appropriate treatments andclinical aids available, monitoring and adapting accordingly To take part in trust and service audit activity as may relate to ownwork and caseloadTrust Headquarters, 350 Euston Road, Regents Place, London, NW1 3AXTelephone:

    Contribute to wider audit, surveys and trials within the trust asindicated by line manager or senior colleagues To contribute to and comment upon Departmental and Trust policeswhen requested or desirable To follow procedures and guidelines but have the discretion tomake own judgements with robust evidence for them To deliver care in a range of settings including, clinics, PatientsHomes, Care Homes and Residential Homes.

    To have the capabilityto move and handle patients who may be immobile, wheelchair orbed-bound often in confined spaces To be flexible and provide cover for other members of the team atshort notice or during periods of absence To follow Departmental and Organisation policies, procedures andguidelines but have the discretion to make own justified diagnosisand decisions within professional guidelines as may be beneficial tothe patientFinancial andPhysical Resources Wherever possible, make best use of time and resources in order tomaximise the benefit to both the patient and organisation.

    To be responsible for monitoring stock levels in own service area andrequest new equipment as appropriate.

    Literate in IT/Computer Skills
    Education/ Qualification/ Training
    Grade A- C in GCSE English and Maths
    ~ Applicants are expected to demonstrate evidence of recent academic achievement (within last 5 years) such that they may be deemed capable of study at degree level
    ~Qualifications Level 3 in care or equivalent
    Access to HE Diploma (QAA approved) with 60 credits overall and 45 credits at level - All distinctions including Biology or Chemistry

    Ability to perform treatments in a variety of settings such as clinics, residential homes, patients own homes and nursing care sites.

    Fine motor dexterity which will become more advanced throughout the apprenticeship to enable use of fine instruments in podiatry treatment
    Sufficient keyboard skills for data input and letter writing and ability to use MS office or similar internet and email
    Ability to use patient information systems to input data and clinical treatment

    Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate work under own initiative, be flexible and prioritise competing demands for attention to provide best care available to patients in case which may involve changing plans where necessary.

    Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, confident and articulate

    Ability to develop & maintain positive working relationships with professionals and non-professional colleagues & clients
    Ability to hear distressing news from patients when discussing treatment plans and during consultations when patients share their life experiences
    Understanding of the scope of the role of the Podiatrist and Podiatry assistant in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
