- Prepare lessons using materials provided for Junior Summer School as directed, but also adapting and supplementing as required to meet student needs
- Teach junior classes in the Brighton School
- Use classroom technology to enhance students' learning experience
- Effectively manage students and their behaviour (with the support of the Academic Management Team)
- Encourage student participation through a positive and enthusiastic attitude about activities in which they are involved
- Be observed by members of the AMT for the purposes of professional development and quality control and by TESOL trainees as part of OIEG's Teacher Training provision
- Teach morning and afternoon classes; hours are not set, and schedule will be changed, as required
- Provide testing when required
- Teach demonstration lessons for agents/potential students as arranged with the AMT
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Keep an accurate record of student attendance and lateness on paper
- Monitor student attendance and alert the AMT to any absences where required (e.g. under 18, when worrying, or more than 3 days)
- Complete a weekly scheme of work by the Monday of each week
- Complete any other administrative tasks required for the effective operation of the school
- Attend staff induction prior to the start of the contract
- Complete welfare and safeguarding training, and any other non-teaching training required
- Be a positive and professional role model for the students, representing the core values of OIEG
- Attend CPD sessions provided by OIEG. However, teachers are expected to take a strong interest in and responsibility for their own CPD as an English language teacher, with the support of the AMT
- Dress appropriately for the role at all times (smart casual and not revealing) 2
• Abide by the school systems and procedures as outlined in the Teacher Manual - Contribute positively to the inclusive atmosphere of the school by working collaboratively with students and staff
- Must be available to teach 1st July – 9th August 2024 (inclusive)
- Eligibility to live and work in in the UK
- Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent
- Recognised ELT qualification, e.g. Trinity CertTESOL or Cambridge CELTA
- Undergraduate degree (*not a requirement for a candidate with a Level 7 qualification or working towards this qualification)
- Level 7 ELT qualification, e.g. Trinity Diploma TESOL/Cambridge Delta
- Other relevant teaching qualification (such as CELTYL)
- Demonstrable English language proficiency (CEFR C2, IELTS 8.5)
- Demonstrable knowledge of effective language teaching and learning strategies
- Experience of delivering English language lessons to groups of junior and adult students
- Experience of working with students from a diversity of cultures and language backgrounds
- Experience of teaching IELTS/FCE/CAE/Business/EAP courses
- Experience of working with teenagers and young learners
- Ability to use different strategies for effective classroom management and commitment to student-centred learning
- Ability to develop and adapt materials to suit students' needs
