Description
The role offers a breadth of opportunities for you to develop your skills in working with young people.


When joining the team, you will be provided with an induction into CAMHS covering all areas of care as well as shadowing clinical staff during your induction period.

You will have regular supervision and development opportunities to help support your skill set in the area of CYPMHS.

This position requires you to work 9-5 Monday to Friday office based and some hybrid working.

You will be based at our Peasley Cross Site in St Helens, where you will be able to park free of charge.

Additionally, as a Merseycare employee, you will receive a generous annual leave allowance, a full set of IT equipment, access to a trust gym and opportunities for further training.


You will be working with children and young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties supporting and encouraging this care group.


You will be providing person-centred care and supporting children and young people with a wide range of mental health needs working alongside registered practitioners to provide a supportive and compassionate level of care.


You will have the opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge through regular supervision with a registered clinician, access to e-learning programmes and in-service face-to-face training sessions.

Contribute to the community-based assessment as well as provide Intervention to young people and their families.

You will be expected to work as a member of the CYPMHS Multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

To assist members of the MDT as required, in the delivery of interventions on an individual and group.

CLINICAL

  • To provide practical and emotional support to Children and young people and their families.
  • To assist the Care co-ordinators in the assessment of a referred service user's mental health needs.
  • To develop and implement Care Plans for the service user and family.
  • To act as an advocate for the service user and family.
  • To engage assertively and supportively with the service user.
  • To provide appropriate information/education to service users, families and carers in an offer to promote coping skills to maintain an appropriate level of care to CYP.
  • To assist service users in accessing appropriate social, recreational and occupational activities which will aid recovery. This will be facilitated with NHS buildings and in the community.
  • To be aware of the potential risk of the service user to self and others and to report this to the CYPMH/Care Co-ordinator as appropriate.
  • To use skills and techniques gained through mandatory training to de-escalate situations where there is physical or verbal aggression and take appropriate action.
  • To be aware of the needs and rights of service users with respect to culture, race and gender.
  • To work to meet the service user's needs, and also to be aware of each family member's needs, especially regarding any safeguarding issues.
  • To participate as a full member of the multidisciplinary team attending team meetings as appropriate, eg. CPA reviews, CAF and Safeguarding meetings.
  • To undertake joint work with other team members as required and professionals.
  • To liaise with Health, Social Care, School and Voluntary agencies, providing and receiving information as appropriate.

PROFESSIONAL

  • To participate in the directorate's performance management /supervision framework (including external clinical supervision) and work towards meeting identified goals and objectives as agreed in a personal development plan.
  • To act, at all times, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • To undertake mandatory training as stipulated by the trust and ensure that all interactions with service users are in line with this e.g./ Manual Handling.
  • Under the guidance and supervision of a qualified practitioner, to make accurate and appropriate entries into health records, and to make available appropriate contact information to Children's Centre staff.
