Job Description:

The Market Risk team is part of the 2nd line of defence of Marketing's activities. The team is responsible for measuring, monitoring and managing market risk within our commodity equity and trading portfolios.

This will include the production of a broad set of market risk metrics, regular interaction with Front Office, and delivery of the right message to Senior Management, traders and other parts of the business in a proactive manner.

Performance & Delivery

Development of market risk metrics (VaR, Stress testing, limit frameworks etc)
Pricing and risk management of options, both vanilla and exotic, in a physical and financial commodity landscape
Provide quantitative assessment/analytics on key marketing priorities and structured transactions
Develop tools using quantitative/statistical techniques to support the market and credit risk teams
Conduct validation of new/existing derivatives pricing and market risk related models
Communicate key messages from large volumes of data to traders, risk and senior management

Compliance

Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.
Comply with Anglo American Security and Operating Standards

Qualifications:

What we're looking for

Experience in a traded markets environment ideally in commodities
Working experience in risk management, risk reporting or similar quantitative role
A postgraduate degree in a quantitative field, e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, or finance is preferable
Outstanding problemsolving skills.
High level of programming ability and experience (eg Python) and expert knowledge of Excel and VBA
Ability to explain and defend complex quantitative methodologies, in a clear, understandable manner to colleagues and senior managers
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a trading environment
