An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mammography Assistant Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team at Cambridge Breast Unit. The service delivers both breast screening and symptomatic mammography. We perform a range of examinations and interventional procedures such as ultrasound core biopsies.


As a Mammography Assistant Practitioner in the Cambridge Breast Unit, you will be part of a dedicated team providing a high-quality patient-centred breast service.

You will be required to assist in ultrasound examinations for the cancer pathway referrals and delivery high standard mammography for the Cambridge and Huntingdon Breast Screening Service.

We are a friendly, welcoming multi-disciplinary team committed to providing a first class service to all of our patients. The Cambridge Breast Unit are committed to personal and professional development with everyone supported in CPD and role extension.

  • To work designated sessions in mammography under direct or indirect supervision, attendance at an accredited University course, producing consistently high standards of mammographic radiography and client / patient care, ensuring an efficient service is maintained at all times.
  • To operate in all locations and be involved in breast screening.
  • To assist the Radiographic Department Assistants in their specific roles.
  • To work within the Cambridge Breast Unit assisting with ultrasound examinations for cancer pathway referrals.

You would be Band 4 if already qualified and Band 3 if training is required.


Band 3:
£21,730 to £23,177 p.a. pro rata


Band 4:
£23,949 to £26,282 p.a. pro rata

This is deemed to be an occupational requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraph 1 and the Employment Statutory Code of Practice Chapter 13 paragraphs
