Fleet Engineer

Location:
Huddersfield (HD2)


Hours:
Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm (must be flexible)


Salary:
£45k to £50k (dependant on experience and qualifications)

Would you like to work as a Fleet Engineer for a global leader in specialist bulk logistics for the chemical, petroleum, food and gas industries?


This is a fantastic permanent opportunity for a qualified and experienced individual to make a difference on this ever-growing specialist company.


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Operate within a regional structure and in close conjunction with other Regional colleagues in order to manage all aspects of the repair and maintenance of vehicles, trailers and equipment across several contracts within the North region.
  • Ensure safety and legal compliance with all statutory regulation and company standards and to work within agreed KPI's to deliver improved fleet availability.
  • Compliance audits of workshops within the North region will also be carried out by the job holder.
  • Complete duties in accordance with the Company Health & Safety Policy and the Corporate TQM system.
  • Manage aspects of HSE associated the operation of all vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance to Companies' Maintenance Policy, Warranty Policy, Breakdown and Recovery Policy and Maintenance Control Centre Service Level Agreement and to ensure that nominated service providers do likewise.
  • Assist with Incident Controller training as required with emphasis on the technical specification of vehicles and trailers.

Other duties include:


  • Provide support to the Maintenance Control Centre as required, using your technical expertise to ensure specific repair activity is commensurate with the defects reported and the symptoms identified.
  • Validate repair and maintenance content in line with standard repair times, agreed parts discounts and in line with contracted dealer labour orders for PO's over the agreed levels.
  • Account manage supplier/vendor arrangements, taking ownership of setting up quarterly reviews, setting agenda, chairing forum, taking minutes and follow up on any agreed actions.
  • Assist in incident/accident/compliance investigations on request and produce detailed technical investigations and reports as required.
  • Carry out workshop compliance audits in line with the annual audit schedule, specific to the North Region.
  • Attend internal or external contract review meetings, safety seminars and any other meetings as and when required in order to share learnings, best practices/processes, and observations following compliance audit activity.
  • Produce a monthly report in regard to performance for operations under your area of responsibility, this will include safety, legality, cost and service.

ESSENTIAL skills:


  • A full UK Driving licence (preferably CE).
  • Be able to travel within the North of England/Scotland.
  • Have excellent people management skills.
  • Be proficient in IT, including Microsoft packages such as Outlook and Excel.
  • Have a City & Guilds 1, 2, 3 Heavy Vehicle Technology (OR equivalent NVQ BTEC).

DESIRABLE skills:


  • Be CPC qualified, either National or International.
  • Have an ADR licence.
  • Be emergency response trained.
  • Have experience working in the transport industry.
