    For International Medical Graduates we will support you to get Section 12 and Approved Clinician status and also in the longer term via CESR we will support you to become substantive consultants on the GMC specialist register.

    For consultants there is the chance to pursue your own interests, so if they lie in R& D, QI, or management & leadership well support you.

    In 2021 Berkshire Healthcare was 4th out of the 48 community and mental health trusts for the number of research projects we recruited to.

    We have refreshed our research strategy and are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to develop and implement the Trusts research programme.

    QI the Trust is very active in terms of quality improvement.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join us as we develop a CAMHS Learning Disabilities service for Berkshire.

    This is a new service development and ideally we are looking for a full-time consultant, to work in a county-wide service.

    However we are open to applicants seeking part time hours and would be happy to discuss this further.

    CAMH services sit within an integrated directorate that brings together all our Universal, Specialist Physical and Mental Health and Neurodiversity services for Children, Young People and Families (CYPF).

    Our services for adults with a learning disability are also part of this directorate and adult Neurodiversity Services are joining us from 2023.

    We work closely together across the directorate, integrating services to enable improved care to children, young people and families where it makes sense to do so.

    This is a newly created service to serve the population of children and young people with mental health and learning disability needs.

    Berkshire Healthcare CAMHS runs a clinical care pathway model delivering evidence-based treatment for anxiety & mood disorders, trauma, mania and psychosis and eating disorders.

    Crisis and risk support is provided by the CAMHS Rapid Response Team and the service run a Tier 4 alternative to admission unit that provides intensive day care and home treatment as part of the Thames Valley Provider Collaborative.

    We are an innovative and forward-thinking service.

    Other new developments currently underway include a new service for Children in Care, a key working service for children with learning disabilities and/or autism and a vanguard pilot as part of the framework for integrated care.

    All CAMH and Neurodiversity services currently operate from two integrated hubs for Children, Young People and Family Service Erlegh House in Reading and Fir Tree House in Slough, with locality bases in Newbury, Wokingham, Bracknell, and Maidenhead.

    The service works closely with multiagency partners across East (Slough, Bracknell and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead) and West Berkshire (Wokingham, Reading and Newbury) and is co-located with the Community Paediatric Services for East and West Berkshire.

    a) Assessment of families, children and adolescents who present with a mental health issue and have a learning disability aged 5 to 18 years old
    b) Treatment for families, children and adolescents, tailored to individual needs, in a multi-disciplinary setting
    This will be reviewed in job planning meetings.
    e) Meetings and consultations with other members of the team and members of the Childrens Health Services, which includes Community Paediatricians
    f) Planning and co-ordinating mental health services for children, adolescents and families, where appropriate
    g) Preparation of professional assessments and reports on those children or young people known to the post holder
    h) Participate in medical audit and evaluation

    A monthly meeting is held for all CAMHS Consultants with the CAMH Head of Service, which is also attended by the CYPF Division Clinical Director.

    Regular individual meetings with the Locality Manager will be arranged as required to provide support and discuss any study and/or training needs arising from the appraisal process, and any other issues affecting the consultants work.

    Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
    Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
    Participated in continuous professional development.
    Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality
    Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and
    postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this
    Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
    MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
    Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

    Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
    Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

    Experience in management of children and young people with complex needs spanning multiple agencies, with mental health and learning disability problems alongside behavioural issues.
